PERFORMANCE FORD UPPER MANIFOLD INSULATOR TO SUIT EF EL AU BA BF 6 Cylinder I6

Exclusive to MACE Engineering, our design-registered manifold insulator to suit Ford Falcon 6 cylinder engines EF-BF

Key benefits:

  • Improve power consistency by significantly reducing heat soak into the inlet manifold
  • Produces a cooler intake charge therefore reduces the tendency for detonation, meaning more ignition timing or boost for more power!
  • Improve low end torque by increasing runner length.
  • Reusable over and over again
  • No undesirable side effects

What are manifold insulators and what do they do?

Manifold insulators are a thermal insulating spacer that mounts between your upper and lower intake manifold. Made from a heat blocking composite, our manifold insulators will increase power from your engine by keeping the intake cooler, and increase low end torque by increasing runner length.

HotCold-Intake

But how do manifold insulators keep the intake manifold cooler?

Given our manifold insulators are made from a composite material with a thermal conductivity of 0.29 W/m*K as opposed to aluminium, which has a thermal conductivity of 150 W/m*K; The difference works out to be that aluminum conducts heat 500 times higher then our composite material!

Also, with gaskets often made out of steel (20 W/m*K thermal conductivity), placed between the upper and lower manifolds, replacing a .5mm gasket with a 10mm manifold insulator will conduct an amazing 1087 times less heat (yes, that's over 100,000% reduction!). What this basically means is that it becomes very difficult for the engine to heat up the manifold, which ultimately means more power for extended periods (i.e. considerably fewer heat soak issues)!

Our composite material also exhibits high stiffness and compressive strength, can withstand temperatures up to nearly 150°C, and has a thermal expansion coefficient very similar to aluminum to increase sealing capabilities. In addition, the spacer can also withstand boosted conditions with ease.

So what's included in the auction?

Included in the auction is a 12mm thick manifold insulator, longer manifold bolts and gasket sealer.

What about Installation?

Installation is straight forward, requiring only the removal of your upper manifold to install the manifold insulator as shown below.

One Lap of the Web: BMW M3 gets color-corrected, a gentleman's GT-R and the Porsche 959

Tue, 21 May 2013

We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about. -- Oh dear, BMW: Perhaps you shouldn't have made two M3 color selections sound so similar?

Mazda Hazumi Concept previews new Mazda2 – teased for Geneva Motor Show

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

The Mazda Hazumi Concept (pictured) teased ahead of Geneva Mazda are gearing up for the Geneva Motor Show next week with the first teaser image of the Mazda Hazumi Concept. The Hazumi Concept – which apparently means ‘Spring up’ or ‘bound’ (as in ‘bound around’ not ‘bound up’) – is the firts clear view of the next generation Mazda 2 featuring the latest iteration of Mazda’s Kodo design language and clearly takes design cues from the new Mazda3. We’ll get more details on the Hazumi/new Mazda2 as Geneva approaches, but we’re expecting it to spawn a production version of the next generation Mazda 2 that will go on sale before the end of 2014.
